The city of San Clemente has approved plans to build a pump track at the dog park. Didn't see that coming !

End of Avenida La Pata?

Ironically enough, I just ordered my first dirt jump bike.  :o

Here's the one off the 56 fwy in San Diego. Been there once but plan to go more.

And here's the old BMX track near Mesa College I never really knew about until recently. A few dirt lots surrounding it and on the edge of a big canyon so kids even ride small motorcycles around the area under the radar.

They had me at "YZ"  ;D  Smoking price though for what it is. The dual hydraulic brakes were key. Havent had a full size bike since I was a teenager, but got rid of them and have only had a small 20" BMX bike I bought at 18 since... SO, the 26" tires are good for the pump track, BMX, and urban stuff, while making the bike less twitchy than a small BMX'er.

We'll see how it goes, and it's really just for riding more with my son as he grows, but I've never been that comfortable jumping bicycles. Everyone I've talked to who rides Moto and Bicycles says its a totally different technique. Some Moto riders take to it, and I unfortunately struggle with not being able to hold on with my legs. >:(

Pokey

Can't wait to ride my Varg there.  A couple seat bounce jumps would cut some lap times

Just took delivery of these to try as riding shoes... I never liked the idea of serious riding in low top shoes, but most people seem to prefer them on a bicycle.  :-\

Composite (not metal) hard toe box too. They are classed as a work boot, but the sole is flat and pretty firm so should be fine on the pedals.  8)

Took my son and some of his buddies to the Inglewood pump track awhile back, and man you've really gotta carry some serious momentum to make any doubles out of the rollers. Later in the morning some locals showed up with dirt jumpers and clued me in on some transfer lines that I hadn't even though of, which were pretty fun to do, but also sketchy cause you were landing into a lane than ran the opposite direction, so timing was everything. Pretty stoked that these pump tracks are being built quite often in cities throughout So Cal. Hopefully they continue to spawn.

Good report Zeke, and in line with a lot I've been hearing. Some parks have a lot of hot shot kids doing what they do but making it sketch for younger kids that aren't in tune with the scene yet.

Going here soon. A truly public park with a crew doing real maintenance with the prep and seal of all the riding surfaces.

Several years ago at a Vogt Ranch ride day, some friends and I got to talking to a guy running a dozer, named Deven Schneider, and he was telling us about his involvement with the Sweetwater build. Last year we finally went to check it out and it was really fun, although our day was cut short a bit as it started to rain. Couldn't believe that some of the local guys continued to ride the place while it was raining!
