Question: Is the track layout and laps a function of the camera, or added in post? I'm still using a trusty GoPro Hero 7 Black but looking to upgrade (eventually)...

I use a program called Telemetry Overlay in post. If your GoPro has GPS then this program will work. GoPro removed GPS from their cameras and then brought it back so I don't know which models do or don't have it. The DJI Osmo Action four, five & six must be paired with the DJI GPS wrist remote. The remote is what captures the GPS data and thankfully it is automatically copied to the cameras video file so it's in sync. Unfortunately the program is expensive, current price $199 but sometimes they have a special. The purchase price is one time only with free upgrades and the tech support has been great. I used it a few times and response time was very quick under 2 hours  by email. The best camera I have owned is the DJI Action 4. The camera ,wrist remote, and wireless mic sync up every time in under 10 seconds and has never failed. The Action 5 and Action 6 have a few extra features that are not worth the money for videos I make and surprisingly the image quality on the 5 and 6 are not as good. I bought the 5 and hate it and I never use it. I might make it a dash cam. The DJI phone app can be used to get some GPS data on your video but not lap times.
